Pelotonia 2009
Committed in the fight against cancer, Continental Office Employees came together for Pelotonia 2009. The Continental Peloton was made up of seven riders, one virtual rider and one volunteer. This inaugural year for Pelotonia took riders 180 miles from Columbus, OH to Athens, OH and back to Columbus. Out of our seven riders we had five of them bike 50 miles, one rode 100 miles, and one rider went the distance of 180 miles. To date, the Continental Peloton has raised over $22,000 in donations which will go directly to research studies at The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center - James Cancer Hospital and Solove Research Institute. If you would like to donate to the Continental Peloton, please visit www.pelotonia.org. Fundraising ends October 1, 2009.

Halloween Party
Sometimes giving back is as easy as expanding on something you are already doing. Our Annual Halloween party for associates was so successful we decided to invite our friends from St. Stephens to join in the fun. For the past few years, over 60 kids from the St. Stephens Community House make the short trip to Continental and are treated to a night of fun, games and of course candy. Just sharing an event that already existed has created such a great experience for the kids of St. Stephens.
Chix with Stix
Each fall, lady golfers from local A&D firms, gather at
the course for a day of golfing and making a difference. Since
it’s inauguration in 2000, Chix with Stix, an all gal
golf outing, has been raising money to benefit breast cancer
research at the Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital and Richard
J. Solove Research Center in Columbus Ohio. Together with
furniture manufacturer Herman Miller Inc., Continental was
one of four founding sponsors and has been extremely dedicated
to this event each year thereafter. Over the past 8 years,
proceeds from this event have raised over $150,000 for the
James Cancer Hospital and is now considered one of the hospital’s
top five contributors in it’s class.
Indiana Women’s Shelter- Julian Center
What better way to network with clients and peers than to through a party. Even better, make it an event that will benefit others. Every holiday season Continental hosts a tree decorating contests for its A&D friends and clients. When all is said and done, over 40 decorated trees are donated to the families at the Julian Center in Indianapolis, a center for battered women and children. It’s the little things that brighten the lives of others and being able to do so, while enjoying time with friends, makes it even better.
